The "Geek Up My Thread" thread

Let this be a place to discuss all things of geekdom, from middle earth to wookipedia.com.

I'll start. Wasn't Space 1999 a lot better before they introduced Mya as a character? It really went downhill after that. Oh yeah, and Tony was w-a-y cooler than Koenig.

Wanna hear something weird?

I have never seen an entire episode of Star Trek. Never seen any of the Star Trek Movies. I saw the original Star Wars, that's it.
I have never seen The Matrix. I am usually 100% lost when you guys start talking about this stuff. What a geek I am!

Space:1999 sucked after the first season. Thanks, of course to the executive producer geeks love to hate: Fred "I'm the man who killed Star Trek" Freiberger. Tony may have been cooler than Koenig, but I always thought he was a poor trade for Professor Bergman.

One thing that's a constant though: Barbera Bain's howlingly bad portrayal of Dr. Helena Russell--sorta like a cross between a fembot from Austin Powers and Spock. There had to be a package deal with Landau that forced the producers to let her on the set.

Geeky, enough for ya?[:D]

I have one memory of Space 1999. I saw this episode, was scared sh!tless, and never watched another.

plagiarism: I think I've seen that episode too. I must have been about five years-old at the time. And yes, it scared the crap out of me too.

In that same episode, wasn't there some crew member/major character traumatized by that thing and he kept hallucinating it everywhere on the ship? Or was that a different show?

I got your geekiness covered right here. For full Anakin Skywalker injury analysis, one would need to freeze frame and study the skeletal flashes that appear when the Sith Lord is struck by Palaptine's Force lightning in Episode VI:

This site must be the absolute epitome of Vader armor suit fascination.

I've begun liking that show Big Bang Theory (CBS, Monday nights) for how geeky those guys are, especially Sheldon. He's so cute.[:I]

There is still so much sci-fi out there for me to see and acquaint myself with. Star Trek, check. Star Wars, check. limited Battlestar Galactica, check. Evil Alien Conquerors, check. Space 1999 ? def. not a check.

Thought Star Trek was horrible. Parents took me to the first Star Wars movie when it came out and I wanted to leave I was so bored. The only cool thing about Captain Kirk was that he would nail anything and everything.

Mystery Science Theater is the only Sci-Fi I can stomach.

Two was the best with Six being a close second.

Big BSG geek here. What about any of those Gerry Anderson productions? Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett, Secret Service.....I totally love those shows. And I'm embarrassed to say how many Discovery Channel and BBC science DVDs I have. And let me just keep my state quarter collection out of this thread.....

no! wait! I was wrong. THIS was the one and only episode of Space 1999 that I recall, and it scared the crap out of me as a kid. One of the crew members saw hideous creatures on the ship that no one else could see:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SfgOWz6tUFs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SfgOWz6tUFs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Wow. In retrospect, they look pretty awful in design. [:D]
