I used to watch Space 1999 until THAT episode with the people eating headlight tentacle thing - man that traumatized me. I don't know why, but it's one of the most disturbing things I saw as a kid and it's always stuck with me.

Looking at the video now, I wonder why I made sucha fuss over it. (Although it still creeps me out.)

I hope geekdom goes beyond outer space shows, because my favorite scene from a movie is in Jurassic Park. I love when the little Dilophosaurus is acting cute & curious then hacks up a giant black ball of poison junk & spits it into Newman's face & eats him. It was disturbing in a most awesome way.

Funny, I have no problem with dinosaurs eating people, but get all freaked by giant headlight alien things...

Funny to hear that those Space 1999 episodes scared the crap out of others too. My scary episode was "Force of Life" where one of the crew turned into an energy sucking entity. I remember that and "Dragon's Domain" both being preceded by network warnings that it wasn't appropriate for all audiences.

Distinctly non-scary was Gerry Anderson's previous series, UFO - complete hilarity. Mike Myers had to have studied all the episodes completely before launching Austin Powers. There's tons of hilarious YouTube fan vids:

This one on its women...

This one on visions of the future...

Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot was another childhood favorite.

<br>no! wait! I was wrong. THIS was the one and only episode of Space 1999 that I recall, and it scared the crap out of me as a kid. One of the crew members saw hideous creatures on the ship that no one else could see:

Wow. In retrospect, they look pretty awful in design. [:D]
[/quote]Yes, that episode "The Bringers Of Wonder part 1" (Year 2 - Episode 17) also scared the crap out of me too... the scene in the elevator... what a horrific memory. I would have been 13 when it aired. Looking back it's pretty funny.

I remember freaking out when I saw that woman giving birth to that alien creature in V: The Series. I don't remember anything near as frightening as this around that time! The tongue...ahhhh! [:0]
