Maybe it was too slow and not Ska, who knows, folks left the dance floor, another was:

Oh, but I didn't go to clubs that played crappy dance-floor clearing music [:)].

All I had to do was hear the first note of an Alphaville or Level 42 song and that was my cue to get some air. Those bands never cleared the dance-floor though. I'll never understand some peoples taste in music.[:0]

Same on the right coast. Blue Monday filled the floor. I preferred to dance to Everything's Gone Green
