Yes, dismal.
Seattle may be able to give you a run for your money, the Mariners were terrible, the Seahawks are terrible and the Sonics bailed the city entirely.

Sonics (moved to OKC)

I'm a New York sports guy but I hate what The Padres did. I understand fiscal responsibility but you have to try. It's the least the fans should be able to expect.

The rumor is, is that the owner is getting a divorce and will be hemorrhaging money, so he's throwing the big fish overboard to cover his fuck up.

The problem seems to be that some owners just don't view a professional team as more than a business investment. Trust me, I'm not that naive to expect that owning a team should be a charitable contribution to the community but there has to be a trade off. A team can make money AND produce a competitive team. Produce an exciting team and the fans will come out to see it. Divesting the team of its talent just to shed salaries is not a great long-term recipe for profitability. It's just a shortcut that pisses off the fans.
The Chargers' problems this year don't seem to rest on the shoulders of management like The Padres' issues do. Nonetheless, don't be surprised if the most popular stadium signs the remainder of the season look something like this:
"Go Chargers....and take The Padres with you"

Sorry, I lost interest in Canadian football after the Baltimore, San Antonio, and Memphis franchises folded.

I used to watch the Stampeders play in Calgary....Canadian football has some college like rules that actually make it pretty fun to watch.


Club 80: nice assesment. Thankfully Im not a diehard fan like some of my asshole friends or I may be in a funk. anyway, Id like to see the Jets do well this year....

Thanks rotator...so would I. Especially since I'm a Mets fan. They were eliminated the last day of the season the last two years after collapsing in September two years in a row. It's kind of like living with a family for the year and being kicked out on Christmas Eve.

I hear that. Five losses this year and three are to West Coast teams (Denver, Raiders, SF). They plan Seattle in two weeks. Unfortunately, they let New England and Miami back into the pack with them.
