Okay. Nothing earth shattering but...

The original Siouxsie and The Banshees included Marco Pirroni (Adam and The Ants) and John Simon Ritchie (aka Sid Vicious). I imagine everyone knew this.

Stiff Little Fingers took their name from a Vibrators song (called "Stiff Little Fingers").

Jon Moss of Culture Club was briefly the drummer for The Damned (during one of Rat Scabies' departures)

Johnny Marr (The Smiths) is/was a professor of music at Salford University in Manchester, England.
(Go Red Devils! It has nothing to do with music but I just have to say it after Manchester is mentioned. Well...coop41 understands)

Actually, it was Johnny and the Self Abusers. When they broke up (after one single), Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill formed Simple minds. The rest of the band formed Cuban Heels.

I heard that Big Audio Dynamite got their name from a line mentioned in an episode of The Flintstones.
(I have never been able to personally find that actual episode though)

Cherry Vanilla, whose RCA albums have just been re-reissued,aGAIN, as a twofer
with liner notes by Dave Thompson and great b&w and color pics, several of which feature
Sting backing up Vanilla on stage...

Harry Rushakoff of Concrete Blonde was in a band in 79-80 called Special Affect, with Ministry's Al Jourgensen and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult's Frankie Nardiello.

Simple Minds got their name from a line in Bowie's "Jean Genie"

Matt Johnson wanted Johnny Marr to be in the original line-up of The The in the early '80s, but it didn't work out that way, obviously. They would eventually work together on 1989's Mind Bomb and 1992's Dusk.

Dale and Terry Bozzio met Warren Curruculo during the sessions for Frank Zappa's 'Joe's Garage Acts: I-III', and this would lead to the formation of Missing Persons. Dale is the voice of "Mary" in the song/sketch "Fembot In A Wet T-Shirt" (one of my personal favorites of his).

The Cure's "Lovesong" was an anniversary present from Robert Smith to his wife.

Depeche Mode, in the early days, would rehearse in Vince Clarke's garage wearing headphones, and often get yelled at by Vince's mom from the clicking noise of them hitting keys.

Bono and The Edge were very active Christians during the Feedback/early U2 years, which created some tension with Larry and Adam, and almost led to an early demise of U2.

The Edge's brother was an original member of Feedback.

Peter Murphy modeled in a famous Maxell cassette ad in the early '80s, which showed the profile a man sitting in a chair, being 'blown away' by the sound coming from his stereo (UK version only, the U.S. ad used a different model)

Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol were first approached to sing "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by songwriter Keith Forsey. Both declined, and Simple Minds initially declined to record the song, but A&M convinced them to change their minds. Jim Kerr always thought the lyrics were too pedestrian and trite for the Minds, and the band refused to allow the song onto their upcoming studio album (Once Upon A Time).

Hi NRG dance singer Stacey Q's recording career began as the lead singer of the very new wave band SSQ.

The Pseudo Echo song "His Eyes" was being played on a walkman in the movie "Friday the 13th Part V: Jason Lives" during the murder of a punk/new wave chick.

Book of Love's Lauren Roselli has a small role in the movie "Silence of the Lambs" and their song Sunny Day was used in the movie. And despite having very unique last names, Singer Susan Ottaviano and Keyboardist/songwriter Ted Ottaviano are NOT related.
