Lene Lovich and Les Chappel hooked up with french disco star Cerrone in the mid-70's and wrote several songs for him & his side projects including the awesome song "Supernature."

Although Grace Jones was born in Jamaica, she spent almost all of her childhood and teen years living in Syracuse, NY. Her family still lives here & her father is a pretty big minister here.

On an unrelated note, did she ever go to The Spaghetti Warehouse? I love that place! I was there on the last Sunday in October. I even purchased t-shirts for my wife and I.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program:
Billy Idol (born Willam Broad) and his family moved here to Long Island when he was two. They moved back a few years later.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

She conceptualized and developed the spaghetti warehouse, she is responsible for the origins of all pasta products served in the Central New York area.

I forgot all about your love of the Spaghetti Warehouse (you've mentioned it before.) We were talking about it at work the other day & wondering if it was still open. It seems like one of those places that's wildly popular with out of towners, but not so much with locals. I think it's the location that holds people back. I really need to get back out there & check it out.

Boy George was fired from his job as a coat/bag check guy at the Blitz nightclub for stealing from a woman's purse. He of course was a staunch regular during its heady New Romantic days.
He was also briefly in an early incarnation of Bow Wow Wow, when he went by the name Lieutenant Lush. He also used to be one of the dancers featured on England's "Top of the Pops" show.

Oingo Boingo's original name was The Mystic Nights of Oingo Boingo.

Prince played keyboards on Stevie Nick's hit "Stand Back", under the alias "Alexander Nevermind".

Funny you mention Eddie Money. His father, after he retired from the police force himself, was my mailman when I was a kid. As the story goes, his father retired earlier than expected, but not before getting his 20 years, because Eddie was kicked off the force after being either caught with a recreational amount of drugs or having tested positive for drugs. His father was embarrassed and left the force.

Most casual music fans think that Soft Cell wrote "Tainted Love" but it was actually written by Ed Cobb of The Four Preps and first recorded by R&B singer Gloria Jones in the '60s. She had a baby with Marc Bolan of T. Rex and was in the car with him when he was killed in an accident.

Speaking of New York bands, Marky Ramone was the drummer for Richard Hell & The Voidoids before joining The Ramones. He was known as Marc Bell at that time. That is Marky's real name.
