IMHO, gay in the 80's and even sadder now. Sadder still the 40+ guy that puts one on. But what do I know? I'm Canadian.[;)]

Holy shit....I have 3 of those (vintage).

And no, I haven't worn them since 1980 something although my son has worn them to make fun of me.

You gotta stay ahead of the curve. It's already too late to jump on this bandwagon. Two letters...Op:

All totally gay clothes from the '80s--always shopped vintage and thrift stores, now my wife wants to toss my collection just because I don't wear them (nor fit them), but I won't let her nuke my old Parka... besides it has way too many rally patches on it. I'll have to get a photo of it; here is a way too small pic of my friends trench coat with all his 2-Tone bages, etc. on it as laid out on his bed:

<a href="http://s97.photobucket.com/albums/l237/vespa_boy_2006/?action=view¤t=TrechcoatwithButtons.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l237/vespa_boy_2006/TrechcoatwithButtons.jpg" border="0" alt="Trechcoat"></a>

[b]Parka before I put the patches on it:

There's always the classic Vuarnet t-shirt (my tee of choice in the late '80s):

Hey the fur-lined hood was not attached there... Now that I look at the pic, the parka looks like a 'Members Only' collar...[}:)]

what's really sad is when you see some middle-aged guy still sporting his original Members Only jacket from back in the day.

Those guys usually have mustaches too.

I remember in 1983/84 the big thing was for the metal kids to wear black members only jackets with big Iron Maiden or Judas Priest patches on the back...another prerequisit was the black gloves with the fingers cut off. chains on the loops of the Members Only jacket...the only thing I remember in common with the 'mods' (meaning every genre; punk, new wave etc) was that they too wore pinback badges on their jackets...of course with their similarly crappy bands proudly displayed.

I didn't realize that The Jam patch on the back of my parka, if you saw it last year in Vegas, say it's like 2' by 2', is proudly displaying a 'crappy' band...[8] [as well as the beat, the who, et al].

Yes, yes Glok...you are wonderful, don't fret. I was there too (in 83) with my Japan pins. What I meant was; that back then we hated each other (us Mods & those Rockers) and they thought YOUR English Beat sucked as bad you thought their Judas Priest did..

and for the record, putting something on a jacket doesnt make one anything. Mod or Otherwise.
