I've always onsidered the roots of punk/new wave/alternative music to have sprun forth from The Velvet Underground and The Stooges, as well as very unknown '60s garage/psych. bands...

The Rock & Roll Whores of Fame wouldn't know great music if it bite them in the ass!

Very, very sad news! Their first three albums are absolute classics and they were, of course, along with MC5, the firestarters. Rest in peace, Ron!

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

I saw the reformed Stooges a couple of years ago, and they were stunningly good live. Ron Asheton's guitar work sounded as fresh today as it must've in 1969-70. I immediately went to the nearest music store to pick up Rhino's two disc version of "Fun House" after the show...timeless!
