Welll, you were right Brock. the Chargers didnt show up. Steelers played awesome. a few bad calls 'gainst the Chargers...and voila! recipe for a loss. Chargers went limp.

I'm already rooting for the NFC in the SuperBowl, the two teams I dislike the most are playing for the AFC championship. F da Steelers and da Ravens.

I'm pretty certain this validates the original point of this thread. First time in history (non-strike season) that a conference championship will feature two teams that failed to win 10 games during the regular season (Cards and Eagles). A little known fact, a long long time ago (maybe early 80's) the Eagles were rumored to be moving to Phoenix. They even printed up Phoenix Eagles t-shirts which I had. Obviously it never came to fruition.)

I'll have to dust off my Cardinals Inaugural Season merchandise to show my support!

Tickets here sold out in 6 minutes yesterday.

I can dig out my Terrible Towel and hope for a Steelers Cards Super Bowl.

So would the NFL.
Yes, it's the Superbowl and yes, people will watch regardless but the best ratings will probably come from this matchup. Both have fans outside their region (you can argue that The Steelers have national interest). Neither The Ravens nor The Cardinals can claim that.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

By the way, I am rooting for The Ravens too now that The Giants have bowed out. My son's first choice for college, at this point, is The University of Delaware and there is that connection with Flacco.

All I gotta say is --GO CARDS. Id love to see them do well to the chagrin of the east coast AND the NFL... (who would just love the to play the 'big teams' (Cowboys, Steelers,GB).....

I bet there's more people than you think who are rooting for the Cards. If you're on the east coast and not around Philly, you probably detest the Eagles. Even if you are a Philly fan, you probably detest idiot McNabb and that big dufus Reid with his asinine jumpsuit.

Then there's the Warner factor. A lot of folks find his Jesus stuff too much, but a ton of folks love his comeback story. On an ESPN poll of who people [i]want[/i] to see winning the Superbowl, the demographic map looked like classic blue and red states - almost all of the midwest was in the Cardinals camp. The actual west coast leaned more toward the Eagles or Steelers.

Jaybag, they are jokes. You could probably change the names in any of these and use them for your team against whomever is your rival. And no my team is not playing golf this Sunday, they are playing your Ravens. Should be a good game.

No question about the caliber of both defenses. Plenty of questions about both offenses. I think Flacco has the talent but not the experience to win the big game. On the other side, you never know if Rothlisberger is going to play like he's got a fresh concussion.

Here's another joke you can use for any team:

A Steelers fan liked to amuse himself by scaring every Ravens fan he saw strutting down the street in an obnoxious Purple shirt. He would swerve his van as if to hit them then swerve back just missing them.

One day while driving along, he saw a priest. He thought he would do a good deed, so he pulled over and asked the priest, 'Where are you going, Father?'

'I'm going to give Mass at St. Francis church, about two miles down the road,' replied the priest. 'Climb in, Father. I'll give you a lift!' The priest climbed into the passenger seat, and they continued down the road.

Suddenly, the driver saw a Ravens fan walking down the road, and he instinctively swerved as if to hit him. But, as usual, he swerved back onto the road just in time.

Even though he was certain that he had missed the guy, he still heard a loud THUD. Not knowing where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirrors but still didn't see anything.

He then remembered the priest, and he turned to the priest and said, sorry Father , I almost hit that Ravens fan.'

'That's OK,' replied the priest 'I got him with the door.'
