Done!

Couldn't quite reach the top score (so far).

#15 is the only one I know I've heard before but can't place....

Great job rsgonzalez. This was quite a challenge and like
BigBri, I know I've heard one of them before, #20 but I'm
drawing a blank.

Today is the last day for submissions. I'll post the results and answers tomorrow. First place is currently an impressive but not insurmountable 31 points.

I am wondering if anyone got # 18. That one I don't know at all.

I submitted my list. I feel comfortable about 14 of them and okay about two others. #18 and #20 were a complete mystery to me. I am kicking myself about #10. I defintely know it but could not come up with it.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone! I had 13 people send me guesses. The average score was an impressive 24 points. Here are the songs:

01. Pretenders - 2000 Miles (13 got the artist, 13 got the song)
02. Siouxsie And The Banshees - Hong Kong Garden (11 got the artist, 11 got the song)
03. Adam Ant - Zerox (1 got the artist, 1 got the song)
04. The Monroes - What Do All The People Know (10 got the artist, 10 got the song)
05. Hooters - And We Danced (12 got the artist, 12 got the song)
06. Billy Idol - Eyes Without A Face (13 got the artist, 13 got the song)
07. A-Ha - The Sun Always Shines On TV (8 got the artist, 8 got the song)
08. ABC - The Look Of Love (Part 1) (13 got the artist, 13 got the song)
09. The Motels - Shame (3 got the artist, 3 got the song)
10. Payolas - Christmas Is Coming (1 got the artist, 1 got the song)
11. New Order - Age Of Consent (10 got the artist, 10 got the song)
12. Elvis Costello - Peace, Love, And Understanding (12 got the artist, 12 got the song)
13. Echo And The Bunnymen - Villiers Terrace (3 got the artist, 3 got the song)
14. Go-Go's - Head Over Heels (12 got the artist, 12 got the song)
15. The Kings - Switching To Glide (6 got the artist, 6 got the song)
16. Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach (12 got the artist, 12 got the song)
17. The B-52's - Give Me Back My Man (8 got the artist, 8 got the song)
18. El Aviador Dro - Nuclear Sí (Por Supuesto) (0 got the artist, 0 got the song)
19. Squeeze - Goodbye Girl (9 got the artist, 9 got the song)
20. Wall Of Voodoo - Shouldn't Have Given Him A Gun For Christmas (0 got the artist, 0 got the song)

My Christmas "theme" didn't go so well; everyone got #1, but only one person got #10 (two people guessed The Smiths), and #20 was just too out there. And ha, I just noticed the MP3 had the info for #1 encoded into it! I'm sure everyone would still have gotten it right :)

#3 and #13 surprised me -- I thought more people would get them.

#18 was admittedly a lark; I didn't expect anyone to get it right. Of course, last time, I put in a song by Indochine (a French new wave band), and someone got it. Definitely check out El Aviador Dro sometime -- they're like a cracked-out Spanish Devo.

And now, without further ado ...

3rd place: marie3, 28 points -- solid all around

2nd place: Jim2, 31 points -- woulda tied for first except he picked the wrong B-52's song!

1st place: club80, 32 points -- we have a winnah!

Thank you to everyone who played, and thanks even more for all the kind words. I will definitely do another one of these in a few months.

Thanks for the game rsgonzalez! It was fun.
I have to say this. I once took one of Blir's quizzes and missed The Payola$ tune on that too. I obviously don't know them real well.

Kudos to you! I'm still a little surprised it was so tricky. I mean, I've heard it in a mall clothing store.

Can't believe so much people missed that two...[:0] Should've played!!!!

Much more since I0'm Spanish and had been the one and only to guess number 13... although I prefer "Selector de frecuencias", a really magnificent song that would have been a nw classic should they been English or American.
