Indie 103.1 LA - RIP

Postby ebbhead » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:45 am

Another great radio station signs off the air. Indie 103.1 is now relegated to an Internet-only stream. We'll miss ya.

Though I listened online anyway it's a bad day for LA and the radio industry in general.

Fucking Sux! [xx(] This is the ONLY station I listen to on the radio...[:p]

I'll miss 'em in the car, oh well, back to 91.5 KUSC (free streaming classical: www.kusc.org for those who want to check-out commercial free classical music station from USC!)

It really sucks. I was listening to it yesterday and then they had a broadcast message saying they will go off the airwaves. Its really too bad because its the only station in S. California that plays decent new music.

KROQ has been in the toilet pretty much for the past 15 years and I refuse to listen to their crap list of nu metal and emo bands. Indie 103.1 is pretty much what KROQ was in the 80s when it use to be a great station

This is a drag. I had always feared that this day would come. History had me wondering if this wasn't an inevitability as the axiom, "good things don't last", really applies to So Cal radio- KNAC going metal, the demise of MARS fm, KROQ turning to shit...

There's still 89.9, they play some eclectic and cutting edge stuff programmed between the news and info. shows.

This really hurts, though. Indie 103.1 was my last hope that decent music could sustain a foothold on a commercial station amongst all the crap on the airwaves.

I'm gonna go sulk now.

The good news is, Indie can still be streamed on the internet!

Still about the best music mix out there, IMO.

Several years ago I was staying in LA and really enjoyed that station.

Fine FM, you fucking win the war. What is "suck" that is commercial FM radio is the victor. Fuck you.
