What movie did you see last night 2

Went to go see "Gran Torino" Friday night, unfortunatly the 8:00 p.m. showing was 'sold out.' A bummer... Have not seen it yet, all my friends are raving about it being the best movies in like 10 (or more) years. Anyone seen it and can attest to it being a 'great' film by Eastwood??? (BTW, please don't give the plot away...)

It is a joke, right? Clint's not really serious with this shit, is he? He's just got to be pulling a gigantic prank on everyone. The acting was horrendous. The supporting cast, especially the Hmong people, were the worst. Eastwood was OK by his standards,but he's definitely lost a lot of his chops and he's just going through the motions here. And really now ... the old Dirty Harry scowl is just comical when coming from a 70 + year old man. It's ludicrous to think for a second this guy could be intimidating to a Hmong gang or the 2 black kids he has a run in with. The only saving grace was the humor from all the racial slurs, and that was probably unintentional.

Don't be fooled by the hype. Go see something else or just save your money. The only reason to see this is if you just have to see ol' Clint's scowl one last time.

I saw the Joe Strummer documentary on the Sundance channel. Kinda disjointed but fascinating. I enjoyed the early bits the most about his childhood in the middle east and Mexico, but that was also the most disjointed. The intention might have been to provide a [i]feel[/i] of things rather than to [i]document[/i] per se, and that's what you get...

I got lambasted for not glowing about this movie. Although any documentary for ANY punk or new wave band is interesting to me, I felt this one followedJoes, 'hippy ideals' a little far ---- no subtitles to let you know who was who (yeah, I knew what the dude from FYC looked like 30 years ago, not at 80 years old though...). Blirs assessment was correct. disjointed , some of the connector material was unnecessary. not bad overall, worth watching, but this one was ultimately unsatisfying for me.
