I HIGHLY recommend his book Rip It and Start Again about the history of post punk from 78 - 84
Great read! Covers all the major bands and styles of the period!

I found Rip It Up in the bargain bin of Borders a while back. Nice couple of dollars spent.

If at all possible you need to get the UK version of the book. It has about 200 more pages than the US version.
