Yeah...either that or filling the cd with more songs from the Boston or Germany shows would've been nice.

There was an recent DVD release of this or another Germany show from that time period recently. Did anyone pick it up? I think I heard that the band hadn't officially endorsed it, so not sure if it's still around.

I'm a big U2 fan, so with that in mind, I like it.

Wow. I can honestly say this is the first time I absolutely HATED the single off a U2 album. IMHO this has been coming slowly but surely but this one is a stinker. I hope the rest of the album is a notch above this song.

This song is nothing like the 80's U2 sound! That descrip could quite possibly be the worst description of this sound possible. This song could have been an outtake off Zooropa to the present. Very misleading. Closest comparison is "Big Girls Are Best" or whatever that b-side was. Not even in the same ball park because that one at least had a hook.

Sing! Bono sing! you know the way you used to....ala "Unforgettable Fire" (the song, not the album), stop with the pseudo mid 90's INXS crap. No melody, no passion, not interesting at all.

I liked the direction they were heading on some of the later material but methinks they are treading some water now. What do I know?

I quite like Zooropa. This sounds like nothing off that album. In fact this is worse than a b-side. I agree with you on the song regardless. It's awful. U2 usually have decent diversity on their albums so I'll assume that something else from the new album will grab my attention but as it stands, this is by far the lousiest single U2 have ever released in my opinion.

Wow, it's craptastic!

HOW was this chosen as the lead-off single? The last U2 lead-off single I disliked this much was Numb. Vertigo was at least ok the first couple of times I heard it, until it was destroyed by Apple in their TV ads (I can now only bear to listen to Native Son, the original version). Beautiful Day was their best lead-off single in ages, and I even dug Discotheque when it was first unveiled. The new single..ugh. Just annoying from start to finish.

There HAS to be better songs on the album, but talk about a poor choice for lead-off single, oi vey.

The first single sounds like it was taylor made for an iPod commercial. I do like the bassline but the rest I can do without.

Heard track #2, "Magnificent", yesterday. Much better. Gives me some hope for the rest of the album!

I've had it for a few days now and it just doesn't do anything for me. U2 have gotten the best reviews of their lives with this album but to me it's worse than 1997's Pop. Either I'm completely out of step with what critics are thinking or I have so many great U2 albums that I can tell a mediocre one when I hear it (although the song "Magnificent" is okay). To me, Magnificent is the best song on the album, great melody, but even that song suffers from some pedestrian lyrics. That said, how does the record label NOT pick that song for the lead-off single? Boots is just awful, easily the worst track on the album (followed closely by Stand Up Comedy).

I was impressed with the whole thing on first listen, but am finding myself skipping around alot, and Bono's new vocal stylings (beat poetry? rap?) on certain tracks take some getting used to. His lyrics have been getting more questionable in recent years; I blame it on too many pop culture references. Good thing he wasn't addressing topics such as breakdancing and Atari on Boy.

Jury's still out, this might be a grower.

I gave "...Boots" another shot when they did it live at the Grammys but no dice. Even an energetic live performance couldn't save it.

Is better than DM's one... but I didn't like the song they chose as first single. "Magnificent", the second one in line, is an excellent song. Hope to see them live (for the 2nd time) next year.
