New Wave LP Compilations

Hello Wavers-

I was looking for a topic for new members of the forum, and I didn't see one, but this looks like a neglected topic so I thought that I would post first here.

Although I listened to and loved American new wave radio when I was a kid, I started collecting new wave records in the early 90s. I found the best way to learn about old new wave bands was to buy any LP compilation that I could find that came out between 1977 - 1982.

Frequently, there was at least one great track, especially on the big labels. I didn't know the difference between Sire from Mute then, and compilation scoring was the best way to learn.

There was also an excellent CD series called "The Indie Scene" which covered UK indie bands by year from 1977 - 1986. Those show up on ebay every once in a while.

Anyway, I took what I learned and formed a band. Lately, I've been listening to the Buggles first album and dreaming of my next musical project.

Yes! I love Wayne County and the Vibrators. I haven't played either in a quite a while, but it got me thinking of my creamy pink Wayne County 12 inch. Quite collectible but terrible for the audiophile.
