Can you hear this?

Postby i_like_lectric_motors » Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:17 am

Actually, I'm wondering if there's anyone who honestly CAN'T hear it. Because I can and there's no way I should be able to after what I've subjected my hearing to over the years...

Clicking the play button below will produce a tone that is generally only heard by people under the age of 25. It has been used as a deterrent device to keep teenagers from loitering in malls and shops, and sounds similar to a buzzing mosquito. Typically the longer you listen to it, the more annoying it gets.

Annoying, as soon as I played it my teenager came running in from his bedroom wanting to know where that sound was comming from, guess it works. Kinda like a silent dog whistle.

I turned the volume to max on my speakers and could hear it pretty well, I guess the kids can just hear it more clearly. Now I'm playing it over and over just to pester the shit out of them, including my 8 year old daughter.

Yeah, they must be talking about the degree to which you can hear it, because even with my mild tinnitis I can hear it.

Thanks, guys. I wasn't expecting to hear it at all but it comes through loud and clear. I thought it was some sort of prank site or something. I guess my ears are just trained from years of cranking Controlled Bleeding albums.

I wonder how many other kids of NWO'ers are going to get tortured this weekend. [:D][}:)]

I most certainly can hear it. And now I think I still do even though the player stopped.

It's no wonder why I stopped loitering at shopping malls over twenty years ago.

Shit! I happened to be wearing headphones when I played it. You can feel the pressure in your ears...very uncomfortable.

I can hear it, but it's not loud or shrill enough for the senior citizens to use it to chase me away on bingo night.

I think that one Controlled Bleeding song I heard damaged my hearing. I can't hear it.

Holy fuck, that sound is annoying.

Am I the only one who's concerned with the legality of this pre-25 year old person deterrent? I mean, is every kid in the mall loitering? Why would they need to be subjected to this torture?
