Peter Case, key player in the Nerves and The Plimsouls, recently had open heart surgery

I had no idea. This is incredibly sad. Peter Case is an integral part of my new wave experience (okay, power pop, whatever). I'll definitely be donating - maybe punt on my next couple of gigs and give here instead.

I was just on the Hidden Love site early this morning, thanks for posting this, schwenko. The only thing keeping me from donating at this moment is PayPal being blocked at work, grr! That said, I will be making a donation when I get home today. It's probably not common knowledge that a lot of independent musicians out there don't have basic health insurance. Several of Peter's songs have touched me personally, so it feels good being able to give back to him in some way. Here's hoping our donations soften the blow of his medical bills.

I chipped in. Anything with Peter Case's name attached to it is worth checking out. I recently introduced my 7 year old to The Plimsouls, and they are his new favorite band.

’’I don’t have life insurance, I don’t have health insurance, I don’t have a savings account,’’ says Case. ’’I’m 48 years old, paying rent, trying to take care of my kids. I have to keep working.’’- Boston Globe Online 10/25/2002

Saw Peter Case with The Plimsouls on 06. Here's wishing him a speedy recovery!

I'm glad to hear Peter is doing well from the surgery. I loved the Plimsouls and his solo work is amazing. I hope I can make a difference, thanks for posting.

I received a card today from the Hidden Love foundation. Instead of finding some usual form letter, I was truly touched to find a hand-written thank you and self-portrait sketch from Peter himself. I mean, wow, a note from one of the heroes of my youth. Pretty damned cool.
