Help! I need to find a real lost 80s song...

Help! I need to find a real lost 80s song...

Postby netdancer76 » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:10 pm

When I was a child I listened a song that now I don't have, but I remember more or less the jingle. I tried to record it with my voice and I posted the audio file on you tube. Try to listen please and tell me something. Sorry for my horrible voice ;-(

Notes
- I heard it from radio and recorded on a (now lost) tape.
- Years from: 1983 to 1986
- In the same tape, recorded from radio, I had "The Final Countdown", "Shout" and "The Reflex".
- I think the genre is pop/rock

Thanks to all for the help

PS: Yes, I am desperate [:(]

It's a longshot but the end of your sample sounds quite like the song "Indian Summer" by The Dream Academy. That song was released in the 1986-87 range on their Remembrance Days CD & later on their import greatest hits CD Somehere In The Sun in 1999. The track received a very limited amount of airplay in some areas. The 2nd half of "Indian Summer" in particular sounds like the end of your sample. Just a guess......

Do you remember which radio station or city it was taped from? It does sound familiar, esp the last part...I want to say Bruce Cockburn because he used to get a lot of play on CFNY, even though he wasn't New Wave. (Damn CanCon!)

It's not the Dream Academy song, ocean; I just had a listen.

I listen it in Italy, but he was an english male singer. Now I am searching about Bruce Cockburn.

I heard many songs by Bruce Cockburn but I didn't find it.

Maybe the voice is similar but deeper...

Hi NetDancer,

The last part of your youtube video sounds like Oingo Boingo - "Pain"
from the album Boi-ngo (especially at the 2:00 minute mark in the song).
