CD rot

Postby Ollie Stench » Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:26 am

Just pulled out my cd of Into The Gap for the first time in over a year and noticed severe surface noise. Now I gotta go out and buy it again.

Bastards!

Well since the music companies try to tell you that you didn't really "buy" it to begin with but rather just licensed the right to listen to your CD, just go out and pirate it and exercise that license.

This kind of oxidization known as CD rot seemed to affect UK-manufactured CDs. Those are the only ones I've ever run across the rot with.

Have you tried ripping it with Exact Audio Copy or some other secure ripper (although downloading it, as someone mentioned, may be faster)?

Oh my, the worst two words to hear for a cd collector. Be sure to take that cd away from all of your other cd's because it actually can spread. I've had that happened and it damage the 4-5 cd's around it too. It's the scariest thing ever.
