The Rarest New Wave Single....Ever?

I've had several email requests for me to "track down" another vinyl copy of this single. When I said it was rare, I wasn't kidding. I'm not in day-to-day contact with my cousins (one's in London, one's in New Zealand) and as far as I know I own the only copy of this still in existence. I'm not planning to part with it any time soon.

I don't own or sell bootlegs. I actually despise bootlegs. You have no idea who you are talking about. I'm sorry to make you sad, because you are not so special anymore, and cannot bragg about how you have the rarest record in the world anymore and no one else does, but I have two mint original copies of the Seeing Red 7". I linked to your sound samples, because I don't have a USB turntable. Anyway, the record is an original record, and it is in Mint condition. If you want to come over, and look at the record, and listen to it then you are invited. I assure you the condition on both the copies I have is much better than your copy. Alright then, I just needed to gaurantee to everyone that this is an original pressing of the Seeing Red 7". Fiftypercents slanderous post about the authenticity was beyond irritating, and insulting to me so I needed to respond to clear any skeptism of the records authenticity. It is an original pressing. Alright then, good luck bidding on the record.

Hey, the turntable thing is understandable...but you do have a digital camera, so a simple solution would be to post a pic of the 2 copies you own side by side. I think that would satisfy everyone as to the authenticity of your copies.

Let me just assure everyone that this a genuine auction, and it may well be the only time anyone has the opportunity to obtain a mint condition copy of this single. And yes, I'm jealous as hell.

I appreciate you originally posting the record with MP3s, because that is how I found out about the band. I had never heard of them before. I think this is a seriously amazing record, and band so I went after the record. Within less than 2 weeks of reading your post I had two mint copies. Sadly I could not get more. I just received the two records in the mail yesterday, and I listed the extra copy on ebay last night, because I know every minimal synth collector is going to want this record. I posted a link to the auction on this forum, because I obviously think the people that read your post, and downloaded your mp3s are going to want this record as well. In terms of the spirit of an internet forum there is no concrete application. An internet forum can be used for whatever a person wants it to be used for. It is a completely flexible entity. In regards to you telling me I should be asking people how I can make a high quality mp3
I don't agree. I am a record collector who is not really interested in mp3s in general, and me making a high quality mp3 of the seeing red 7" will not help anything. An mp3 is already a terrible format for music, and I think your unperfect recording of the record suits the mp3 format and bloggers just fine. And for the minimal synth collector that wants a vinyl recording that is mint, and will be better then any mp3 that can or will be made then they will have to win this auction. I did briefly glance over your blog, but the Seeing Red 7" was the only record I saw that I was interested in. If you have anymore of a similar style and rarity feel free to use this thread for your believed intended purpose of the forum, and post them here. I will appreciate any other unknown records that you can find and post.

So I've had time to think about this discussion. I realize that I kind of went off, so I'd like to get back to putting a positive spin on things. I don't have any record collecting buddies off-line, so I really do value my interaction with people either at this forum, or on my blog, or wherever.

I will admit to being new at the whole business of collecting vinyl. Until recently I was a CD junkie, so I will also be the first to admit that there are those out there who know much more about the subject than me, and definitely when it comes to "minimal synth" as a genre.

Because this band has family connections, I will also admit to being a teensy bit possessive. After all, most people I talk to everyday could not point out where Guernsey is on a map. I honestly did not think reaction to the tracks would be so positive. But, after all, this was not my band, nor was it my music. So, once I have shared the secret, I have to bear in mind others are going to also take possession of this band in some way.

So, with that said, I'm going to take everything posted at face value. To locate mint copies of this record so quickly is a fantastic achievement. But, maybe it comes down to persistence and a little luck. After all, I have bought items in the past by calling up a shop and saying "You don't know me, I'm calling from America, but three weeks ago you had this album, third shelf over in the discount section..." Now, what is the value of the records? Is one worth $100? Again, I am keeping an open mind. After all, a CD featuring one track from YouTube star Susan Boyle is currently selling for over $1,000 so I guess value is always relative.

I will agree that these forums are supposed to be flexible, and that just because I kind of get a kick out of taking a black lump of vinyl and working on the sound quality does not mean that is what everyone should be doing. Judging by the tone of the eBay auction, it certainly seems that this record 'hits the spot' as a collectible and I would agree that I've always liked the artwork. So, would I like to see more photos of a mint copy, why yes of course. And as I'm only too aware of the pops and crackles on my record, I'd certainly like to hear a mint/unplayed copy for once.
