ULTRAVOX!

Postby skygeex » Fri Apr 17, 2009 10:35 am

I'm sure MANY of you in The States are quite PAINFULLY aware of the outrageously cool UK tour going on right now, ULTRAVOX: RETURN TO EDEN. I have been so stoked for so long about this reunion (having heard about it from Cerise at the Official Ultravox Website), but so bummed that there are no plans for the guys to come HERE to the US. I've talked briefly with Warren Cann about it (he and I are friended on Facebook), but he's tight-lipped. Almost as tight-lipped as he is about who "Mr. X" is about! That he didn't come right out and say "NO" to a US tour kind of leaves a glimmer of hope. One can only wish!

Oh please, "Mr. X." is John Foxx. Cann's silence on the matter fools no one.

Sorry to disappoint, but "Mr. X" is not about John Foxx.

No, I think he means that the music/beat from Mr. X is note for note that same as John Foxx's Touch & Go off his first solo album Metamatic.

Still looking for my girl with auburn hair and tawny eyes...

I just found a decent audio recording of the Glasgow show. It's really amazingly good. Sounds like they did in 1982.

[:D] I saw them in Edinburgh, fantastic show.

You are in for a treat if they do go to the US.

I consider them to be two different bands who happen to have the same name. Aside from a song here and there (and about 1/3 the set of the US tour before Vienna came out) the Ure-era never performed any of the Foxx-era songs, opting instead to write a new set of material.

I like 'em both equally but for different reasons.

Oh, and a big interview/retrospective in this month's Record Collector magazine.

Either version of Ultravox is a win if they come here to the states :)
