And you tell yourself
Never, never again!!!
Well, not until next week anyway
And you were never one for holding drink
And you stagger off to the toilet
And you throw up like it was Christmas
And you miss the bowl and you hit your shoes
And there's no paper towels
Now what else can go wrong for you
It's a choice between a cab fare home
And a packet of cigarettes
So you choose and the money sticks
In the machine and the manager says
'Tough shit - drink up and leave'

It's a Mugs Game [xx(]

Love! "Well on second thought, I think i'll leave home and go and live in america, because they earn more money there, and they can get away with murder - YEAH!!!"

LOL, how prescient.

Alone here in the kitchen
I feel there’s something missing
I’d beg for some forgiveness
But begging’s not my business
And she won’t write a letter
Although I always tell her
And so it’s my assumption
I’m really up the junction

I could pick any song by squeeze but this one gets me the most.

I agree--this is overall one of my favorite songs by these guys:
"and then I'll wait till I'm 21 and tell them all to sod off"

Put this on another post and it reminded me

10,000 Maniacs--Dust Bowl Days
"I played a card in this weeks game. Took the first and the last letters in three of their names. This lottery's been building up for weeks. I could be lucky me with the five million prize, tears of disbelief spilling out of my eyes. I try and try but I can't save. Pennies, nickels, dollars slip away. I've tried and tried but I can't save. The hole in my pocketbook is growing. There's a new wind blowing they say, it's gonna be a cold, cold one. So brace yourselves my darlings, it won't bring anything much our way but more
dust bowl days."

Mysterious lines,
But are they worth reviving
A four year old thread?

Why not[?] I guess I'm left wondering what you consider to be the bigger mystery: "reviving a four year old thread".

I've never been in a forum where members consider it unusual to bump an old thread. We have years worth of great ones. Why start a new one when an old one will suffice? Considering how many times I've seen new threads redirected to older ones of identical subject matter, I think I did a pretty reasonable thing. But seriously, tell me what you think.

Just my personal (probably misguided) opinion of the lyrical fragment, which were no Doot Doot[;)][B)]

Every board has its own norms. I'm on another board where they hate thread revivals even more. Personally, I just find it sad to see the posts of once prolific members. I'd rather see what the current crowd has to say, whoever they are at the time, even if some wind up posting the same thing every couple of years.

Our bed is empty, the fire is out
and all the love we've got to give has all spurted out
---"Kingdom of Rain" The The

So you sold your soul for a pocket full of sweet talk
Forget-me-not kisses at the end of a slow walk
And when it's done you put your world back on
'Cause she's otherwise engaged married to someone
