Alright, you're all convincing me to go see Star Trek tonight. It's bizarre to me that the first motion picture was released 10 years after the TV series ended (1979 vs 1969), yet this movie is coming out a full 30 years after that first movie. The TV series seems like such an older, different thing than even the first movie, but in reality, we're much farther removed from that movie now.

Last week, we saw a great movie on Comcast On Demand called "The Chaser". It's a cat-and-mouse pimp and cops vs serial killer thing. Really, really great. Oh, and it's in Korean, so you'll have to deal with subtitles.

Most likely seeing Star Trek tomorrow...

I finally got around to seeing Harmony Korine's "Gummo". Talk about 90 straight minutes of "WTF?".

Saw Star Trek. The FX were surprisingly nice and a big departure from the corny special effects work from the Shatner films. I do however didnt like the lead characters that much but the story helped balance things out. Its not quite up to Batman Begins standards but its around the same level as Casino Royale as far as restart movies go

Saw the Wrestler and what a depressing movie it was. A truely incredible ending to the film and one of the greatest lines said by Mickey Rourke

Yes Man. One of Jim Carrie's better efforts. Good soundtrack with lots of Eels. Maybe I'm just smitten with Zooey Deschanel. Her end title track is very new wave...

I took a bunch of teenagers to the midnight show on opening night. Long? Sheesh! What freaking producers don't put a filter on these things?? Parts were very enjoyable (read "Megan Fox and Julie White") but a lot was way overindulgent. It seem to the MO of studios these days to just give action movies MORE of everything. It creates shit movies like Batman where an audience that doesn't know better anymore thinks more blowups and bombast is somehow good.

OMFG!

Watched "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" this weekend. Definitely the funniest movie I have seen in a long time! A must see!

The deleted scenes on the dvd are just as funny as the movie itself!

It most certaintly is. Its this summer's The Dark Knight. From the commercials, it looked like it was going to be a full action film where the aliens are the bad guys but it was the complete opposite. The film really just grabs you and doesnt go too preachy on its social commentary about xenophobia and racism. Near the end, I was cheering for the pawns to kill the evil MNU military group

The Last American Virgin on VH1 Classic! Definnitely classic...but definitely BAD. Far worse than I remember. Goddamn that kid got screwed. Great soundtrack but very abrupt transitions...The Plimsouls "Zero Hour" right into Quincy Jones' "Just Once" in the penultimate scene. Bizarre. But a great flashback.
