eight 6...Toronto...WTF?

Postby zill » Wed May 20, 2009 8:12 am

I'm in TO this week and you can't walk 2 blocks without tripping over a Tamil Tiger. WTF is happening in this city? I guess we give all terrorists equal opportunity in Canada.

Why the hell are they fighting over Sri Lanka when they already own a big chunk of Toronto???

I don't know who's running this place anymore. I'll just have to remember for my next protest to be sure and gather up enough young children to bring so the riot police don't dare try to break it up. Who says we can't learn things from people of different cultures?

You've hit the city at a good time...normally you can't walk a block without tripping over one of these assholes. TV/Radio interviews with them highlight their stupidity, from the exaggeration of the facts re: events in Sri Lanka to the origins of the Tamil Tiger flag. (Did you know the flag's origin go back 1500 years? That explains the Kalashnikov's presence on the flag)

First, the goal of their protest was a cessation of the hostilities in Sri Lanka, then it was the safe exit of their countrymen from the war zone, and now from what I understand, they won't stop protesting until they get their own country. Interestingly, a Sinhalese counter protest was quickly broken up by police when they hired a plane to fly a banner with an anti Tamil slogan on it. The protest was peaceful, and within the bounds of the city by-laws, unlike the ongoing Tamil protests.

The chunk of the city that they "own" (Scarborough) used to be lovingly referred to as "Scarberia" (it always seemed colder there), but now it's known as "Scar Lanka".

As to why they are protesting the U.S. Consulate...good question. Stupid is as stupid does.

Talk is that plans are already in place to allow over 20,000 per year emigrate here from Sri Lanka. That's the legal number, the yearly total will likely be 3 times that.

Hey, you were in town and didn't request an audience with me? Luminaries such as georgie rockwood have requested one...what makes you think you can sidestep King of Tamilland?

I would have requested an audience but I just resigned myself to the fact a great Toronto audiophile like yourself would have little time to listen to my incoherent west coast ramblings about the K-Tels or Pointed Sticks.

Maybe next time...anyway, I'm being held hostage at the offices of one of your great Ontario pension plans that have more revenues than the entire sub-saharan continent.

But the audience was always requested by certified mail

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

LOL...I was avoiding that. I suck at those things. I listened to it about 5 times the day you posted it, and IIRC, I know about 7 of them. I recognize most of them, but putting a name/artist to them ain't gonna happen.
