Bernard Sumner's Bad Lieutenant

Postby Frau_Blucher » Sat Jun 06, 2009 4:43 pm

New band with Phil Cunningham. LP to be released later this year. Acoustic sample track here, though it cements for me that Barney's voice ain't the best unplugged. He's not getting any younger either, is he?

No, his voice doesn't sound great unplugged nor he can play guitar and sing at the same time, sometimes he's completely out of key... but I love him, just as he is. [:D] And I'm happy this Bad Lieutenant things is going to come out, it was already coming to be something like a Chinese democracy in my mind.

I think I saw Bernie on 60 Minutes last night.

Or was that Andy Rooney?

Blir, these interviews are amazing! What a rare treat. A one on one interview w/Barney about all his bands from Joy Division to Bad Lieutenant with live acoustic performances interspersed. I got chills during some of those interview bits.

Sink or Swim is a cracking song.

I've always preferred the spin-off bands (Electronic, Monaco) to most of New Orders stuff, so looking forward to hearing the new album.

"With Peter Hook having acrimoniously split from New Order, the rest of the legendary synthrock act has enlisted Blur bassist Alex James for a new project dubbed Bad Lieutenant.

The BBC reports the new band already has recorded an album, which is due out in October.

Sumner tells the BBC the group will tour later this year and is eyeing 2010 festival dates."
