To answer the question seriously this time (though I do hate Violins):

Anything by The Cure. But I've started appreciating some of their songs in the last year or two. "Let's Go to Bed" and "The Caterpillar" will never change.

Almost everything by The Smiths.

The songs on Surly's list.

I don't want to think about it too much. I'll come across as a hater.

Joy Division, New Order, Soft Cell, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Hayzee Fantaysee, The Smiths, Cure, Morrissey, Toyah, Culture Club, Erasure, Tears For Fears..

Level 42 new wave? They were part of the Britfunk movement rather than the new wave one. I don't mind some of their early stuff like Living It Up and Love Games but they soon went downhill.

Dexy's Midnight Runners-Come On Eileen(one of the dumbest songs ever, cant understand how its become so big?)

Soft Cell-Tainted Love(While I like some of their other stuff, this song is just shite!!)

PSB-Suburbia/West End Girls

FGTH-Relax(I dont hate it, as much as I think it's EXTREMELY overplayed)

The Replacements-Other than "Ill Be You", I dont like anything by them.

Bobby Mcferrin-Dont worry be happy(In no way new wave, but this has to be one of thee worst songs EVVVVEEERRRRR). Just Hearing it makes me cringe.

I never got into many of the Cure's so-called hits (e.g. Lovecats, Close to You, In Between Days, Why Can't I be You, Hot Hot Hot, etc.).

Or many of Depeche Mode's popular songs (Black Celebration, Never Let Me Down Again, People are People, Master and Servant, Shake the Disease, Strangelove, Policy of Truth, Question of Lust, etc.)

It often seemed like anything those two bands put out in the 80's was automatically put up on a pedestal. Some of New Order's dance-oriented stuff was like that too.

Other bands whose songs didn't appeal to me:

Katrina and the Waves (w/ maybe the most overplayed song evarr)
Wham! (although I heard 'Young Guns' recently and thought it aged well)
Power Station
Blow Monkeys

At the risk of getting lynched...New Order past Blue Monday. I have a couple of copies of Blue Monday, and that's it as far as New Order music I own.

ABC...couldn't stand any of their stuff. Same for Spandau Ballet, although I do have a copy of "Chant No. 1".

Japan...First 2 lps are excellent, Quiet Life is OK, the rest...pass. Mick Karn's bass work is always interesting though.

Like others here, my wife can't stand Quiet Life. Seems Sylvian's voice grates on her nerves. Great way to get her out of the room when she's nagging me.

If the stuff on VH1's 'I Love the 80s' comp is an indication of 'classic' tunes, I'm glad the 80s are over. 'My Sharona'? No thanks. 'Turning Japanese'? Tampoco. Add to that 'Everybody Have Fun Tonight'-- not only was it played to death, it was probably never good.
But I am very surprised by the other posts here-- I don't know if things like Smiths, Siouxsie, Cure, Depeche are 100% 'new wave', but it's surprising that on this board bands like that are singled out, whereas they're generally respected as quality music that has taken a long time to get the recognition it deserves; meanwhile, frickin' a-Ha is all over MTV? hmm...
I'd also like to take the opportunity to note that 'Living On A Prayer' has suddenly become a classic for idiots to sing with their friends while drunk at a bar. Coming soon to an NBA game near you. I know it's not new wave but needed to say it anyway. Thank you.

New Order? I actually love Substance, and saw them in concert in Detroit in 87. I love that whole album. I also loved Technique. What did you want the NO boys to do, their lead singer killed himself, jees.[:)]
