Song or Artist ID? "Fishback"?!?!

Song or Artist ID? "Fishback"?!?!

Postby oceanic » Sun Jul 12, 2009 1:16 pm

Hey all. I was listening to a eighties radio show tonight and I heard an incredible song, definitely from the eighties, and the announcer mentioned the title and artist afterwards. Unfortunately all I caught was what sounded like "fishback". Perhaps the written word is spelled much differently, but phonetically it definitely sounded like "fishback" to me. Anyone know of an artist or song from the eighties, kind of mellow and with an almost jazzy kind of groove that you can connect to what sounds like "fishback"? I know it's not much to go on, but give it a whirl!

Thanks!
Mike

What show were you listening too? Taking a stab here....Velvet Underground? If it was, it was probably Shriekback - Fish Below The Ice. They played that.

This has absolutely nothing to do with new wave, but WTH ... there's a song called "Flashback" by Imagination, genre soul-disco-funk.

Thank you both for helping me out. Much appreciated!
As it turns out, "Fish Below The Ice" is the song I was thinking about. Amazing track, and I think it was followed by David Sylvian's "Orpheus", which I'd never heard before and also blew my mind completely. You're absolutely right, wherewereuin82, I was listening to live-to-air from the Velvet Underground. Are you a Torontonian as well? Too bad about Martin Streek, eh?

Thanks again, Guys!

No. Not from Toronto, but close enough. And yeah, too bad about that. But, I was surprised he was there as long as he was. I always liked listening to him. He always sounded genuine.
