Space Travel????? What is the point??

Postby WoodlandParkPunk » Thu Jul 16, 2009 4:57 am

I mean why do we spend billions of dollars on space exploration. What has it ever done for me down here on earth. Just seems totally fucking assinine to spend $$$$ we don't have for this shit, when there is such a bigger need of "real" issues to deal with here on earth.
Are we ever gonna live on Mars? Are we getting gas off the moon, are we gonna send products to Venus to be built at a lower cost??

Fuck this space shit pisses me off. Am i alone in my rant or are there others questioning this same shit??

Well since the world is gonna end in 2012 we only have 3 years to colonize Mars so therefore I'm all for spending billions on space travel.

Given the choice of spending it on space exploration or pissing it away helping third world countries become more corrupt and fucked up than they already are, I say blow it in space. You know nobody has the balls to say "Hey, let's just not spend it at all", so space is as good a place as any.

Nothing quite says, "suck" like John Cusack in the leading role of a movie. Since the 80s, he and Kevin Bacon have been in a fierce, long running competition to see who can make the most number of crappy movies. Sure, Sandra Bullock has been quite successful in consistently churning out vapid pap but she can't hold a candle to Bacon. He is the undisputed king so far but THIS release should put Cusack right back in the game.

If it takes going into space and colonizing other worlds to get away from another Cusack and/or Bacon stinker, no amount of money is too much!

Totally. Best application of Tang...the Buzz Aldrin Martini at The Continental in Philadelphia.

Plus, ever since we first saw Earth from space as this tiny singular vessel of humanity, we've all lived in peace and harmony.

Tang goes well in any alcohol. I've spent a good amount of time testing this theory and it's true.

Here's an interesting poster delineating the entire 2009 federal Discretionary Budget. Look for the Nasa bit in the upper right hand corner.

This article is a couple of years old but it gets my feelings on the subject across better than I can:
