Hard to argue with a plausible scenario such as that. Why did so educated a man go straight for the race card anyway? Could he not envision the general discredit such actions would bring? He tainted whatever claim he may have had against the officer in question with such immature actions. Had he shut his mouth, the end story would have much better highlighted the race relation problem in the U.S.
I had to fire a driver go a couple of years ago, not because he was habitually late, or had 3 accidents in the previous calender year: according to him, he was being let go because he was black. Talk about an overused crutch.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. PITA and a huge waste of time having to prove my reasons were justified.

The only way to avoid this type of thing is to not hire certain people in the first place. Risk vs. reward. The choice is clear.

Heck yeah. Unfortunately, I see this occasionally with my students. Not to me personally, because scenarios such as these do not arise in my classroom; rather, I observe the victim tendency among them in their daily, casual interactions. Sometimes, when I overhear it, I call them out on it. And you know what ? Half of the time, they'll just look blank, laugh, and admit "oh, I was just saying that, Ms." But my point is, they are picking up this meme way too early. It's weird.
