Postby tenpole » Fri Aug 28, 2009 10:04 am

I'm going to NYC in a couple of weeks- any suggestons for record stores. I'd imagine there are not quite as many as the last time I was there!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thx.

Rebel Rebel is definitely worth checking out. Always a good selection of new and used vinyl. Lots of imports. Quite a bit of rare stuff as well. Very heavy on stuff from the 80's. Though I found that the prices on the older 12"'s and 45's are a little pricey. They jam a lot of stuff into a tiny store.

Not to mention John DiSalvo of Tuff Darts being behind the counter. [8D]

Amazing! I've known David for more than 20 years (as a customer of Rebel Rebel) and never realized this.

Alot of music store employees are or were in bands. When I worked at Tower at Fourth & Broadway during college, I worked with Rob Jones of the Wonderstuff, Mike Dolan of the Turbo ACs and Kumasi of D-Xtreme. Crazy.

Is Sounds on St. Marks Place still there? I used to love that place in the 80s. If it is still there, worth a stop just for the history :)

That place used to get so crowded they had a bouncer at the front door.
