80's party set list help

Postby abacab66 » Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:02 pm

A friend of mine is throwing an 80's party and asked me to come up with a set list of danceable new wave songs. The party will include other music genre's [xx(] so I'm assuming I need to come up with about 2 hours of music at the most. He asked if I could maybe do a best of by year. Since this won't be a true new wave crowd I'm not really looking for the obscure here. I guess I'm just looking for suggestions as to which songs should definitely be played.

An example of the obvious songs I'm looking for -

New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle
Modern English - Melt With You

You get the idea.

I'm counting on you guys to help me look good.[;)]

Great suggestions!

Keep them coming.

I'm sure I could have done this on my own but I just figured it would be fun as a group effort.

Have seen Safety Dance mentioned a couple of times above. Personally I can not have ANY party, be it 80's or otherwise without playing the Extended Version rather than the radio version.

S,s,s,s, A,a,a,a, F,f,f,f, E,e,e,e, T,t,t,t, Y,y,y,y Safe,afe,afe,afe Dance,ance,ance,ance!

Chuck Fade to Gray by Visage in there too maybe?

Cliched but all-good when it's an 80's-do!
