Welcome aboard BR. I've been ultra busy as of late-the reason for lack of recent posts--I've still got a lot in the bins that I can hopefully get to. Sorry--cannot help out with the Blacjacks--all I have of them is what you seem to have.

BR--Any chance you have The Realm's song "The Same"? Think its on one of the Boston Anthologys and my copy in poor shape. Think it was volume 3 or 4--not sure--buried in basement somewhere.

eddbree - Thank you so much for this post! This is the one that brought me to the Outpost. I haven't heard this song in years & found very little about it on Google. This was a great song.

Welcome, BostonRocker1- you obviously have good taste[:D]
Yes, that Lifters tune is one of my faves- saw them perform this on Local Licks TV show with Zip Rzeppa early 80's on ch.27, ran down to In Your Ear and bought the 45, have never seen it since. Used to see Carbonara in East Coast Muscle, too. Glad you enjoyed. You're welcome.

Hi,Eddbree - I never saw Local Licks. Did Charles Laquidara host that one? I ask because there's a Nervous Eaters track called "Today and Tomorrow" out on Youtube right now, and it's from a local music show. Charles L. introduces them at the beginning. It looks low budget, but it's a great tune.

Thanks again for the Lifters track!

Hi, Somebody -

Sorry, you've got more of The Lines than I do - I don't have "Take Me Away" or the "Liveat the Metro" tracks. I haven't seen a discography, but I'll try to find one. Most searches for "The Lines" turns up the band from England.

See ya!

Hi, Randy - I'll check on "The Same". My albums are also stashedin thebasement, but Iknow EXACTLY where it is.

It's great to see more posts out here - sometimes it's hard to find other local rock fans, so it's almost like striking gold when you do!

Thanks!

Whoops - I made a mistake here. The track I was talking about was called "In The Long Run" by the band Smuggler. It's the track right before Girls of Paris. I always listened to the whole side of the record at a time, so they kinda blur together.

Randy - Success! I did find this track, it is on volume 3. I don't know if I can rip/post it, though - I paid a visit to the web site for Varulven Records (http://www.varulven.com/) and they're about to start electronic distribution of the whole Boston Rock Anthology series on Emusic.com. Volumes 1 and 21 are in the works now. Looks like they also have an Ebay store at http://stores.ebay.com/Var-International-Records (looks kinda pricey to me, though.) I'll try to find out if I can do this without getting in trouble.

See ya!

It would be nice if they did become available-I myself had nothing above volume 8 though.

I have about 10 of those things, although I couldn't tell you which volumes offhand. Joe Viglione often takes stuff out of his eBay store and auctions them for 99 cents start bids (I think I bought something from him once). Obviously, wait for the auctions.

Speak of the devil. I just found the volume in question while packing up some vinyl. That's unreal. Volume 7 was sitting next to it.

#3 has a winged serpent on the cover with a diamond ring wrapped around its tail. From 1984. Tracks are...

Side 1
1. The Count - The Minute Impression
2. Rods & Cones - Round Room (I hated this band)
3. The Steps - White Lies
4. The Realm - The Same
5. Disarray - Invisible Miracles
6. Blowfish - Parasite

Side 2
1. The Odd Squad - Tell Me Yesterday
2. Smuggler - In the Long Run
3. Control U - Girls of Paris
4. Blockyard - Talk to Me
5. Narrow Margin - Remember Her
6. Blowfish - Geeko

Guess I'll have to revisit it this weekend, because I honestly don't remember any of these songs. I only vaguely remember some "comedy" record from that Blowfish dude where he did a George Harrison impersonation and mocked him for ripping off The Chiffons' "He's So Fine."

I'll do rock paper scissors with BR to decide who gets to do the grudge work!

I revisited the LP yesterday and kind of liked The Realm tune (psychedelic meets dark wave), but, IMO, the best track by far is "Tell Me Yesterday," which is a killer "sunny '60s" pastiche. I can't believe I never paid any attention to that group before. Did they (it looks like it's just one guy by the name of Ken Morrell plus backing musicians) do anything else?

Either of you guys remember which volume had X-Dreams' "Nocturnal Ramblings?" They were a trio or a quartet fronted by Deborah Galiga. Sounded a bit like Quarterflash. I'm pretty sure it was on the radio around '83 or '84, so it was probably on one of the early volumes. Well, we know it's not on Vols. 3 or 7.

Somebody...

I tried to find a Lines discography. The best I could find was on allmusic.com. Doesn't mention any early 80's stuff. Just 1987's Will You Still Love Me When I Lost My Mind, and a self title from 1988 with 8 songs. Link below

Hi, guys - sorry I haven't been back for so long, between work & some car trouble I've been kinda tied up. I finally uploaded that song by The Realm - check it out at:

http://www.zshare.net/audio/678319085d1322b4/

It's kinda big - it's an MP3, but I encoded it at 320 kbps. Let me know if it needs to be louder, I will modify & re-post.

Hope you had a great halloween!
