I quite like the flagship single off the forthcoming album. It's hard not to like any of the New Order side projects as they all have the melodic / catchy lyric philosophy down so well. Revenge was the only one that was a bit difficult for me to listen to, apart from their singles. I wish Barney much luck with this newest venture. So far, so great! Hopefully a US tour will soon follow.....

Any thoughts?

Melodic, yes.

However, if there was a lyrical equivalent to the life-sucking torture machine like from The Princess Bride, this would be it. I've tried listening to this song about 10 times and have never made it even half way through. For chrissakes, Barney was never Ian, but this is tapping new lows Marvy!

I think Barney's lyrics are at times oversimplified but I also think that that's part of the charm of New Order. To me, New Order were always a group made up of "regular people", not necessarily musical elitists. That's a big part of their draw in my opinion. For the same reason, I never minded his off-key singing in live settings particularly in their earlier years. In fact, I think it's great. I'm always inspired by art created by "regular people". It keeps me going in my own work. Wasn't that the point of punk? That anybody can create music? That the music institution should be inclusive and not exclusive? As far as I'm concerned, Barney can do whatever he wants musically. His contributions to music are immeasurable and if I'm going to listen to throwaway pop it should be from someone like him.

I think that the album will yield greater artistic depths. Singles aren't always the best measure of an album's creative merit.

Thanks, I did want to hear this album.
Is it just me or does the song "Head into Tomorrow" start off a bit like Led Zeppelin's "Thank You".
