Scariest Movie

Take a look at this list. "Out of all these 15 movies" Which one would you consider to be the scariest? Which one truly TRULY gives you the creeps?

Of these, the original Hellraiser was the creepiest. It was way more bent than anything else at the time.

But none of these movies that are actually made to be scary are really all that scary. To me, Alien was the scariest shit ever.

I'm not a big horror fan, and this movie was the nail in the coffin for me. Part of it was me being the same age as the protagonists in the film. Also, the general dark feeling in it, coupled with that scary slo-mo-ish 80s minimal synth sound. Heck, I guess all this could apply to ANY horror film. But this film just hit all the wrong buttons on my scare-meter. The scene when the kid (a young Johnny Depp!) gets swallowed into the bed by that hand, followed by a geyser of shooting blood stuck with me forever. Where she's trying to run up those gooey stairs, and the gross school scenes got me, too. Seeing this in 1985 was pretty much the last horror movie I ever saw. Yep, I'm a scaredy cat.

On the truly creepy scale it would have to be Suspiria. I tried to watch it alone. I left all the lights on when I ran to my bedroom and dove into bed. LOL

But, on the "I wouldn't dare watch it alone scale", hands down, it's The Exorcist. I've never even tried to watch it alone.

I also had to go with "Nightmare On Elm Street" despite having all those sequels turn it into a camp parody.

Rant: "Silence Of The Lambs" I've never considered scary or even remotely suspenseful and despite Anthony Hopkins being a wonderful actor, I thought the character of Hannibal Lectre was incredibly boring and useless. Probably the most overrrated film of the 90's. Id give it a one and 1/2 stars out of four. Just sleep inducing Hollywood mediocrity.

"The Exorcist" for me. I saw it when I was 7 (I don't know who thought that was a good idea...) and it ruined horror movies for me forever. I refuse to watch them.

I had to go with the The Exorcist with Alien a close second. Hellraiser is creep show numero uno.

Hellraiser probably would be the creepiest. I noticed alot of horror movies had potential to be creepy until the second half of the movie ruined them (Jeepers Creepers) or that they were made comical in the sequels (Nightmare on Elm Street)

I actually voted for Ernest Scared Stupid, because when I saw that I was about 11 years old, and I couldn't sleep for the rest of my life. Arguably the most traumatic movie I ever saw.

There's just something about a butt-ugly troll that hides under your bed, turns you and your friends into wood, and can impersonate your mother that's scary as fuck.

I've never seen The Exorcist, because I REFUSE to watch it. I'm convinced it would be my #1 if I ever saw it.

The Shining is the only other movie on this list to actually scare me.

By the way Cool As Ice is pretty horrificly frightening as well...yes, I have seen it.
