caught 28 Days Later last night on FX, pretty cool movie, good music. Also recently saw Blindside which was good as well, Bullock puts on a great show, she probably feels comfortable in this role.
Best lately was MOON, directed by David Bowie's son featuring Sam Rockwell, cool take on a sci-fi, pretty trippy.

Not a film I saw last night but on Christmas day I went with the family to see "Sherlock Holmes". A run of the mill action flick with Robert Downey jr. chewing the scenery and playing a character called Sherlock Holmes who shouldn't be confused with the Sherlock Holmes that most of us have been exposed to.

Watched "Lady Vengeance" last night. Great movie - third of the Vengeance Trilogy, which consists of "Sympathy for Mr Vengeance", "Oldboy", and "Lady Vengeance". The director, Chan-Wook Park, makes terrific films.

a thriller that upset me quite a bit (as is the norm for virtually all Korean movies I've seen with the exception of "My Sassy Girl")

Lady Vengeance in less gory than the other two, but definitely has disturbing moments -- and the whole tone is similar to the other two. But there's an interesting twist on the revenge topic that's not in the other two.
I thought The Chaser was really suspenseful. It has some disturbing parts, but I thought it was well made.
I made the mistake of giving my stepdad "Memories of Murder" as part of his Christmas present. He had seen "13 Tasimat" (or however you spell it) on late night cable, and though pretty disturbed by it, he thought it was good. So, I'm thinking, now's the time to introduce him to South Korean movies. Nope. Bad idea. And I had almost sent him "The Chaser" instead. [:p]

Norwegian film "Dead Snow" (Ein Zwie Die).
A group of medical school students head off to a remote cabin for a getaway weekend and end up waking up a troop of flesh eating zombie Nazis! Hilarious! It's meant to be a black comedy and once the blood starts spilling, the gore is so over the top it is comical.
Best scene is when one of the guys gets bitten in the arm and decides that unless he amputates it, he'll turn into a zombie. So he proceeds to cut off his own arm with a chainsaw. The moment he's done, a zombie jumps up out of the snow and bites him square in the crotch! Oh no! What does he do now? Hahahahahaha.
Not for everyone, but if you like zombie movies, I'd highly recommend it.

Do not waste your time with A Serious Man. I don't think I've been more disappointed with a film since the first Star Trek movie. The Coen brothers really dropped the ball on this one.
