Is it me or does it just seem like this is the Winter X Games? Every time I turn on the TV (which admittedly is not often) it seems like some version of snowboarding is on.

Wow, as exciting as Lindsey Vonn's gold medal run was today in the ladies downhill, I have to say that Shani Davis just TORE up the ice in the men's 1000 m to win gold for the USA. What a sprint over the last 200 m !!! He made it look easy! Well deserved gold for Team USA today.

BTW, the current weather in Vancouver may be bad for the outdoor events, but it's great for everyone else. It's like Expo 86 here again, except everything is spread out throughout the city and suburbs.

Maybe now that Great Britain won their first medal on the "death track" they'll stop whinging...well at least until Canada obliterates them at curling (is that really a sport?), then it'll start all over again. It is no surprise the English press would slam Vancouver, anything to take the pressure off in 2012 in what is sure to be a transportation and security nightmare.

Anyone who follows winter sports knows that there are often delays and rescheduling of alpine events due to weather issues. An of course, the death was tragic and senseless but unfortunately deaths are not unheard of in winter sports, where athletes hurl themsleves down steep inclines at speeds in many events approaching 100 miles per hour.

The only thing I agree with is that the ugly chain link fence around the Olympic flame sucks. On the ground here in Vancouver, I don't hear anyone complaining...it is just an amazing atmosphere.
