Surfer Blood - Astro Coast

Postby SallyLightfoot » Tue Jan 26, 2010 10:56 am

Surfer Blood's first full-length release just came out, and it's getting very good reviews. They sound like a blend of The Shins (vocals, melodies), The Wedding Present (guitars) and maybe a little Pavement.

Amazon is selling the LP in MP3 format for $5.99 -- a great deal for a very good recording from a promising new band. They're touring the US - check the band's MySpace page for dates-- they'll be in NYC at the end of February, including a free in-store concert at Other Music.

I have definitely added Surfer Blood to my agenda at SXSW. Really liking their laid-back but still-crunchy sound. Jesus H they're young.

Definitely one of the best 1st half of any album I've heard recently. They sold out before I could get tix to see them last Sunday. I'm sure they'll be back soon now that their popularity is surging.
