Apparently of a heart attack in New Orleans. Big Star was supposed to play in Austin at SXSW this Saturday. [:(]

Yeah, I just came to post that. Read it in [i]The Times[/i]. Really sad. Great musician who influenced countless others. R.I.P.

Very sad...Alex Chilton & Big Star were monumental influences on a whole generation of bands.

Along with Velvet Underground and Nick Drake they were far more renowned critically and never received the commercial success they sorely deserved.

Vale Alex...you will be missed but not forgotten.
