Duran Rio Radio Special

Postby zill » Sat Mar 27, 2010 2:40 pm

I was enjoying the Japanese CD of the 1982 Australian Rio radio special with John Taylor and Nick Rhodes today. There's not a lot of meat to their comments, but a few interesting tidbits like that "The Chauffeur" shouldn't be taken as a new direction for the band, "Hold Back the Rain" would fit better with the first album, or that EMI thought "Last Chance On The Stairway" might become a single from the album...comments made long before the album took off.

Are there other radio shows like this - by any new wave band - floating around out there? Strange Advance had a radio show on their website for awhile introducing their World's Away album, which I found equally interesting. Would love to hear a radio special like this by New Order.

I'm pretty sure there was one of Arcadia. I saw the promo vinyl a loooonnng time ago (1988), but didn't buy it :-(. I think it was one of those ones where there's a sheet full of questions, and the replies are on vinyl, but I'm not sure.

Here's the MP3s of the interview tracks (~13MB):

The other tracks are from the 2001 Rio Remaster. Don't know about the bonus tracs ... probably from the Singles boxset.

Cool, thanks for sharing!

I'll have to check my vinyl for interviews ... I might have a couple.
