It's "Psyched Lone Ranger" according to the original LP lyric sheet.

While we're on the topic, is the song really about masturbation, or was that an urban legend? I've seen it claimed both ways.

Why does everyone avoid a psyched lone ranger?

I don't have a friggen clue what either would mean...

Maybe if the Lone Ranger was 'Psyched'.. he may be a little trigger happy, hence you may not want to be near him....... who knows!

It is supposed to be about masterbation as the term 'turning Japanese' is defined as the face you pull as you're cumming.

From wikipedia:

In the U.S., the song was believed to euphemistically refer to the face a male makes during the act of masturbation. In a VH1 True Spin special the band denied this. Fenton explained: "Turning Japanese is all the clichés about angst and youth and turning into something you didn't expect to."

I've also seen article(s) on the web that says Fenton came up with that explanation after the fact because he didn't want a song about masturbation be his legacy. The above quote sounds much more noble.

One interview I saw he said he wrote it at a time when products made in Japan were totally overtaking the marketplace: cameras, Walkmans, TVs, etc. Thus, the UK was "turning Japanese".

I guess it's really about masturbation as that fits the lyrics. The other explanations make no sense.

Not that the lyrics 'have to' make sense! I suppose [:p]
