wow, fear of the truth really makes libs upset! You can hate on GB all you want, he's an easy target, but when it comes down to it, you cannot dispute the facts that he has exposed about the progressive left and Crime Inc. (the Obama Regime) And if you can't argue facts, don't run your mouth please. All the haters can come up with is that GB is fat, a hatemonger, a Nazi, and a liar...but you can't disprove one word that he says. If you can?...please do so..
Hate is a strong word, I don't hate Glen Beck, I just feel the need to expose him for what he is and what he represents. We need people to realize that this guy is spewing nonsense out of context to play upon peoples fears.

It's his half truths mixed in emotional responses that insult the average intelligent being. They are an afront to independent thinkers such as many folks on this site. The fact that Glen Beck would even associate with a group such as Joy Division is an afront to independent thinkers.

Give me one agrument that Glen Beck has spewed that is true? None, only facts sewed together with association. In fact, thats all Glen Becks arguments are, to give facts that don't add up, then he tries to use association to bring about a conclusion that had nothing to do with the facts. Glen Becks arguments are neither true or false because their is no argument, only emotional associations which can neither be validated true or false. Thus utter nonsense.
He gets people to believe his associtions (GB arguments) are true or factual because they need to validate their own prejudices and beliefs.
This is what scares intelligent folks with an opposite emotional fear of what Glen Beck stands for.

Isn't this what a right wing fascist would do. Play upon peoples fears and misconceptions?

So if you(or GB) can't frame an argument correctly then stop spewing your own mouth and correctly allow the folks on here to label Glen Beck for what he is.
I'm sure most of us already see this, but since you obviously can't, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that your entire argument against Glen Beck is also "only emotional associations which can neither be validated true or false. Thus utter nonsense."

I'm not necessarily defending Beck or criticizing you, but the two of you aren't as different as you think. [^]

Sorry. I didn't realize English was your second language. What I clearly stated was that most of us can see that your entire post was nonsense. Get it now? Probably not but at least I tried.

Sounds like English is your second language.
"I'm sure most of us already see this, but since you obviously can't"
Then your first sentence does not make sense on your further clarification of its meaning. Why would I not be able to see the nonsense, but "most of us" can? [:)
Still utter nonsense on your part.

At least I'm trying to expose a dangerous element in our society. What are you??

So ... English is your primary language and you still don't understand what I wrote (which makes complete sense, btw)? Ok then. I'll stop giving you the benefit of the doubt, declare you a complete idiot, and give up. As Toyah would say, half a nice day. [:D]

This thread is an outrage. Not the Glenn Beck part, the part where toyah makes several posts insisting that Joy Division were "not punk". It wasn't until the 80's that the lines were drawn with only the faster, harder-edged sounds considered punk. Everything else that was a contrast to the excesses and over-production of mainstream rock was new wave, no wave, post-punk, power pop, and whatever other terms the record companies invented to sound more radio-friendly than 'punk'. 1980 and earlier, it was all punk...from Talking Heads to The Pretenders to The Dead Kennedys, and yes, even Joy Division. So when Joy Division were making records, 'New Wave' and all those other terms all fell under the punk umbrella.

Stay on the important part of the subject (GB). So Toyah has an opinion on what genre Joy Division is not. Her opinion. Nothing lost. Doesn't take away from the genious in the music. Hardly feel outraged by it.

Whereas, the GB issue. Now that's outrage.

Obviously I was kidding about being outraged, just adding my $0.02, no big deal. Meanwhile I'm waiting for toyah to rip me a new one...and we all know how painful that can be.[:D]

This is a reply mainly to Djcory's most recent post (and yes, most of this thread belongs in NNNW rather than General New Wave):
wow, fear of the truth really makes libs upset! You can hate on GB all you want, he's an easy target, but when it comes down to it, you cannot dispute the facts that he has exposed about the progressive left and Crime Inc. If you can?...please do so..
Glenn Beck is an outlet for uninformed, outraged, dim-witted yokels who are angry about the Obama presidency and equally furious at the GOP for squandering their dominance. Get a clue: Beck's sole purpose is to serve as an outlet for outraged, right-leaning independents and republicans, so that their anger can be channeled against the Obama administration instead of the inept and corrupt GOP. Only the uneducated would believe a fraction of what Beck says (Nazi Germany was marxist/socialist? Obama is a socialist? Thomas Paine and/or the founding fathers were right-wing christian free-market capitalists? Global warming is a leftist plot? Beck didn't support the bank bailout?!?!). Anyone who took a basic college history course would find Beck's core beliefs to be a F***ING laughingstock, and it speaks VOLUMES about the quality of education in this country.

Glenn Beck is a device -- a deflection -- a face-saving diversion for the failures of the GOP in the last administration. Beck's job is to corral anger and gin-up dissent against the opposition administration-- to pretend that the current administration did not inherit a metric shit-ton of debt and economic dysfunction from the previous GOP administration, and to plant the idea that they CREATED it-- which is an impressive lie, epic as it is audacious. What is far more interesting to me is that Beck is not unceremoniously laughed off cable-television for egregious hypocrisy and fact-twisting, but instead celebrated by the tea-party dolts and upper-middle class dopes who don't have a f***ing clue about history, politics or economics. The scary thing isn't Glenn Beck per se, it's the fact that there are enough know-nothings out there to serve as an audience. Glenn is the heir-apparent to Rush Limbaugh, so Rush devote himself full-time to tub-sitting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6F7Q7BkAbCk.

As far as disputing a word of Glenn Beck is concerned, this is no real challenge. Figuring out if there's actually a supporting fact or shred of truth in his bullshit hysteria-- that's the real challenge.

You left out that he called Jesus a communist. [:D]

Amazingly he hasn't been mentioned at all in the "People I'd Like To Kick In The Face" thread on NNNW (where, as we agree, he belongs).

there never was a 'punk umbrella' for Joy Division to cluster under;
real PUNK was too much for closet disco heads to handle, so "New Wave" was created (by Police manager Miles Copeland) to transfer punk's 'edge' to bands and artists that were cut from the traditional rock mold but wanted to benefit from the 'punk' banner;
also radio in America had no intention of playing punk, but had no problem with the 'new wave' tag, which was in full bloom by 1978, via the likes of Joe Jackson, the previously mentioned Police,and non punk acts like Joy Division...
New Wave has always been punk's disco/bizarro mirror reflection,and you all know it...
I HAVE SPOKEN!!!!
