Well, I've got an ulterior motive

By the way, to address a point Blir mentioned above, we're not on the iTunes list primarily because we aren't capable of supporting 200 simultaneous listeners. Yet. That's where you come in.

Right now, we're at 42, which is (believe it or not) enough to support the FM station. If we start maxing that out regularly, they're willing to bump up the support...and of course, 200 is that magic sweet spot where iTunes notices you.

So the way to do that is...listen. Ain't no other way. (And I'm not craven enough to jam up those slots myself - that would be cheating.)

Giving it a shot again here....I only listen at work and the connection here is pretty much hit or miss.

At home, I listen to play lists from my collection so, no listen then. I do remember hearing some great stuff and am looking forward to more. Thanks for all of your work.

Thanks for quoting me, hub. I've checked out your station even before your post and like it. But I listen to radio almost exclusively in the car and I have no capability to hear streaming audio on the road. At home I am constantly making new playlists by discovering new music on the web and prefer my own mix to any station. Your music selection is excellent but my only other issue is I like DJ's---one of the last who feel that way probably. I know why that would be problematic for you, being a labor of love. I will check it out again but not being a music-radio listener at home (even my own iTunes mixes take a backseat to TV or talk radio 90% of the time) I can't promise tuning in every day.

Well, you did manage to hit the nail on the head there, as far as what you were describing. I will not cop to playing *everything* - frankly, if I'm not filtering, I'm not doing my job - but I do play a lot more that First Wave (et. al.) won't touch.

Actually, I do want to work out the DJ thing - I do it Friday nights on the FM, but want to work out the process (and the time!) to do it on the HD2.

And, of course, if more people listen, the more likely it is I'll get a chance to open up the mic (and scare them away, probably.)

Closed Winamp and still can't connect. Will try again later.

Just fired up Flashback Alternatives and it's working through Winamp so the problem probably isn't here.

Sean - it's about time a weighed-in about your station. I've been with you for at least 4 years from the Live365 years. Your ability to find, compile, and present relevant new music is top shelf. Stuff I've bought because I heard it on Altrok includes: Maps, Paper Route, The Static Age, The Perfects, Trembling Blue Stars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ladytron, Peter Bjorn and John, White Lies, and Voxtrot.

No one (certainly not the record companies) will give you enough credit for what you've done but you do indeed deserve kudos. Slacker Radio is OK, but it's too sterile for me. Altrok is a good bridge to the old days of open format FM and non-programmed college radio, when we listened to the radio not only hear something new, but to also hear stuff that validated our own interests.

Mechanically similar to most - between things I find (a bit of overseas radio tracking involved here) things that are hyped to me, and stuff I stumble on pulling randomly from blogs/Facebook/MySpace surfing, I've got a goal of fourteen new tracks to play each week.

If I'm different, it's because of my gut. (Very loose rule of thumb - if it fell through a time warp and wound up in WLIR's inbox in 1983, and *they'd* add it, that's what I'm looking for.) Most alternative today is either "hard rock" by another name, "stoner rock" by another name, or really damn mellow.

I'm really just looking for a pulse.
