Wormster...I know the end is near...how about the last installment in early Sept? That time of year always holds the best reminders of early new wave for me ... School was back in session...everyone was back from summer vacation, talking about concerts and new tunes....the air was becoming cooler and every weekend was a party or a club.... what do you think?

This is my last contributing tape of the screamer screechend weekend..I hope everyone enjoyed these blasts from the past tapes.I wish now that i had taped more of these beauties. Who would have know back then that Wlir/WDRE would have went by the wayside like it did.It had such a unique style of djs and talent and great music..go figure. The like of WNEW AND WPLJ still survive when the plays the same music over and over again is baffling...And all the other tri-state over players of the same genre of music that sound the same.uuggghhh..So now that i got that of my chest, to fill the void i might just upload to this thread all of my other tapes from WLIR.These tapes have little or no commercials. They are tapes that i made with the pause button and record button pressed down ready to tape at the first sign of a new song.So if anyone is interested in these type of tapes come back and check this thread out..

I wanna be a COWBOY
And you can be my COWGIRL

Thanks Wormster... what a great set of tapes. I put them on a hard drive and play them via the MMI in my car, and never fail to get a rise from my friends. Sure beats First Wave on Sirius, with their endless cycle of Smiths-Cure-Depeche-Morrissey-Repeat. If I hear 'Hairdresser on Fire' one more time I am going to freak out.
I have sent them so many emails reminding them that there was so much amazing music made in the mid-80s, they need to expand their playlist.

But until then, any other tapes you have of the era will certainly make life sweeter... thanks again

Merry Christmas to all..Thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot.I will start that process. But just a warning these tapes are a little ruff.I taped them on the go. Most of the time the pause button was down and when i would hear a good song i would release the pause button and record missing some of the beginning of cutting of the end of a song so as not to get the next playing song..if you know what i mean..But if you enjoyed the screamer tapes, you might enjoy these tapes, many are one hit wonders that may have never even made to screamer status or maybe they will bring back memories for you..some station id is also mentioned with some of WLIR s crazy antics and movie skits..So enjoy..
