Obscure New Wave Vinyl Blog Launched

Postby gilson80boy » Sat Jul 31, 2010 2:55 am

Hi, I've been a member here for years and have limited posts, but I'm always checking in....

Anyway, I'm a serious collector of obscure new wave and have an extensive collection that I'd like to start sharing with people who appreciate this music as much as I do.

To that end, I've just launched a blog site dedicated to unknown obscure indie titles.

I've attempted to list items that at the time of posting have not been blogged about anywhere else.

Please have a look and check in often. I'll be posting as much as I can...

I am not too computer literate when it comes to these blog things. Do we hit a certain button to hear the music so we can tell what it sounds like? I looked thru the pages and admit I haven't heard of even one of these artists though they look quite interesting. Just can't figure out how/if you can listen to their sound?? Hope we can and I just am too blog ingnorant to have a clue :) I have heard people talk about blog music but never really checked into it. Glad I finally clicked on your site but again I am clueless how to make anything play unless that is not what the blog is used for??

Hi Countercircular

First, thanks for checking out my blog. I have an extensive collection that still needs to be posted, so keep checking in...

There is no music downloads at this time on my blog mainly due to the time considerations of getting all that done. I may start adding samples soon though.

At the very least, I hope you find some good recommendations to add to your collections. Some of the stuff is very rare and others are available in the marketplace for decent prices.

If you have questions on any of the listings, don't hesitate to contact me.

Also, I'm working on a CD only sister blog, which should launch at the end of the month. Very similar, but just original CDs.

as I am always looking for stuff I haven't heard so far + hopefully one day can track down, this bog is really nice, lots of stuff to add to my 'look-out-for' list... keep up the great work, very promising so far.

PS: if anyone could share that ERTH EP...

Hi Crystal...thanks for your vote of confidence. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised at many of the upcoming posts...I will be posting quite a lot in the coming months as I have a lot to catch up on.

Please become a follower of the blog. I'm new to the blog thing.... I will be posting 4-5 new ones tonight....

I want to get the word out about all these unknown obscurities that are surprisingly very good.

I second the request for Erth. A lot of these records can't be found on Discogs or the internet. I also would appreciate some samples before I make the trek to the nearest used record store, which is some ways away.

Hi Mr Oktober
I understand your concerns, but please believe that although short, my reviews are very accurate and on the mark. I will definitely try to get some samples up in the future.

I love going to records stores to hunt for stuff.

I've just added four more obscurities

I appreciate your support.

you have alot of albums here that look really cool and you make them all sound like their really good lost gems. but it is so frustrating not being able to hear them. the fact that you have tried to get ones not blogged about anywhere else adds to the difficulty of being able to hear them. i understand you are suggesting we hunt them down but honestly ive spent years trying to digitize and get rid of my albums because i just do not have room for all the stuff i have not just records. plus its not like hunting these down and buying them are going to help the artists any. and i know you say your reviews are spot on, but i dont know your taste and people are all different. i have downloaded alot of obscure albums on blog through the years and alot of it isnt bad but also doesnt really catch the attention enough to make you ever listen to it again. its no insult to you or your taste but because you may rate it up there with the best doesnt mean i will and vice versa. or to sum it all up much faster, it would be REALLY REALLY great if you could add the downloads to them. and if i like them i will let you know and thank you very much for them.

I would like to just sample maybe a minute of at least 2 tracks from each one, but would never expect them to all be put up for free download. This guy is showing us a lot of rare things so just some samples to give us an idea if we want to hunt them down is ok. You can't expect all his years and efforts of finding these, paying for them, etc....to just load them up for you to take. Not sure how blogs are supposed to work, but seems even if the artist isn't getting hurt, that still doesn't mean you should get free downloads. I am not sure I'd figure how to even do that myself, I am not exactly computer savvy. I'm content saving the artwork to a file and knowing there are things I never knew about to maybe look for when I come across records. Still have to admit I've never even heard of these artists, but they do look very interesting and from the descriptions given, it gives me a fair idea if it is something I want to try to find.

Hi NewWavePop and CounterCircle and the other folks on the thred..

Thanks for your candid feedback..I understand and agree for the need of downloads and samples....Good News..I've just added a bunch of downloads to many of my posts...

In all honesty, I'm a bit technically challenged and don't currently have a way to transfer vinyl to MP3...I've got a bunch of it remastered to CD, so I'm able to load that stuff to my site....I need an easy way to transfer the vinyl so I can at least give you sound samples....I'll work on it...

I will continue to load more downloads and sound samples on a very regular basis, so please visit often. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to contact me. I'll do my best to answer your questions.

Thanks for your support....

thank you gilson80boy, hope i didnt come across in a bad way. i am just interested in hearing several of these bands. but i didnt want to track them down and have yet more records in my way unless i was certain if i like them. i actually bought a USB turntable myself about a year ago just because it was a pretty good deal. and i ripped the 8 or so albums i had that i have never been able to find in mp3 format. but at the moment im in a bit of a hoarder panic or fear and am trying to get ALOT of stuff out of my space. i just want it out of here, so buying more records is sort of the opposite effect.
thank you for all the work and i hope to my next favorite band ever on your site.

Great job - as with many here, always looking for "new" things from the past.
