Retro:Active Upcoming Interview

Postby DJ Wave » Tue Sep 07, 2010 6:12 am

In October I will be doing a show with Alex from the Retro: Active Series.

I am looking for questions to ask Alex from you the fans on what you might like to know about the series.

example: Which song was the hardest to get rights?

Please don't ask for songs you want on the series next, save that for the lists in the forums.

email your questions to: djwave.retropolis@gmail.com

All questions must be submitted by September 15th.

Ok.....here s a question or 2:

Was there any song, no matter how hard you tried to convince the artist/owner/label of using, they just said "nope, sorry", and refused usage?

Any song(s) out there, that you're thinking of putting onto a future comp, that you think might not be obtainable? Are the labels/artists who own the masters, are they receptive to you doing this, or, are they giving you an emphatic "nope", whenever you ask about using a song?

If it's ok to post here instead of e-mailing, here's a couple:

What are Alex's new wave desert island discs?

Are the artists usually happy to learn their songs will be on one of the discs?

Nice thread, Wavey. If there are ever artists who decline to have their name (much less their songs) included in the series, what's their rationale (if Alex ever gets to find out)?

Does reaction from this series ever influence future work by the artist? Encourage the creation new material?

One more question - I've been listening to the discs today [:)] How is the organization of the tracks determined and do the artists ever have any input in that process?

edit: I'm also curious about the cover art and what influenced it's design.
