actually listened to the new CD today, one or two somewhat decent tunes, the rest not terrible but none too thrilling either.

Gotta find the right mood. It's not a track by track sorta thing.

Brushing up on my Deerhunter, my pick so far off the new cd.

There's definitely a small sprinkling of some suprisingly pop constructs on the new album. Saturday at the Royale. Woohoooo!

Earsplitting gig at Royale last night. Tileboy says A Place to Bury Strangers was louder. I say how can he really be sure if he already went deaf there?? Ears still ringing.

A gig of highs and lows though. The highs of the thunderous choruses of Helicopter, Don't Cry, Revival and Never Stop were mind-trippingly high. Too many pysch-rock freakout solos though that actually slowed the gig way down towards the end.

Still definitely worth a view, but perhaps best viewed with the full US Recommended Daily Allowance of Psychoactive Drugs in your system.

Incomplete clip, not from Boston and incapable of capturing the full psychedelic swirl...

Good point.

Helicopter is a great tune , can't get it out of my head. Still ambivalent about this band, though I didn't mind the psychedelic freakout as much as Frau did.

I'll add that every song that you might think is even slightly ambient on record (or whatever) is dialed to an 11 of psychedelic wall of swirl. It's definitely an experience. I also have a rotation of tunes stuck in my head, not just off Halcyon but even Microcastles and Cryptograms still...
