Very much a bummer and very unexpected since they'd recently done a few gigs in the UK.

Extremely sad news. The Slits were absolutely brilliant, and her vocals on New Age Stepper's "Fade Away" (well, most of their stuff, but especially "Fade Away") are incredible. May she find peace in Zion.
