New Musik - They All Run After The Carving Knife

New Musik's "They All Run After The Carving Knife" just aired at Altrok 90.5 HD2 - that's Tony Mansfield's band before he turned almost exclusively to producing bands like Naked Eyes, Captain Sensible and Aztec Camera...each of whose "sound" is evident in the New Musik style that predated them. My favorite bit about the song is toward the end, when almost all melody falls out of it, leaving a hypnotic new wave beat that the song lingers on for a good extra minute before fading.

Personally, I'd call them underappreciated - what say you?

(BTW, other gems of this sort air with fair regularity, alongside the new music they inspired, at Altrok 90.5 HD2 - over the air at the Jersey Shore and on the web everywhere at http://altrokradio.com - which wasn't entirely the point of my post but I guess I should get a plug in where I can...)

Cool band! My parents visited London in 1980 and my mom decided to buy me an lp she saw in the shop window "because the cover looked pretty". It turns out it was New Musik's "From A to B", and thus my very first new wave album.

I still thank mom to this day...she unintentionally opened my ears to UK new wave through this album.

Massively underappreciated in my estimation.

"World Of Water" was playing on the radio the first morning I woke up in the cfny-fm broadcast area in 1981.

The first two albums were great (but oddly similar to each other.... World of Walter anyone?)

Warp is a seldom seen treasure in the second-hand stores here but still gets regular play in our house.

NASA-Remembering the Future CD this vid is back to square one. They reminded me of Nu Musik incarnate.

I've got to believe alot of people discovered them through their 4-song Epic Nu-Disc, like I did. That was a great introduction to a great band.

Later I searched out the full length lp's listed above. Great band!

Agreed! Though I still feel weird preferring their original "All You Need Is Love" to both the Beatles cover and the Beatles original ...

I didn't even know about these 2 albums until I read this thread. I have A to B, and had always assumed that was their only album.

I had a look on eBay, and managed to get both CDs for under a fiver! Pretty good, seeing as how they're £32.49 each on Amazon!

I've had a quick listen to 'Anywhere', and am pretty impressed so far.
