I always thought Edie Sedgwick's style inspired quite a few New Wave looks. She's already a timeless style icon so the 80's would qualify as well, I suppose. Actually the same could be said for much of the 60's Warhol/Factory scene:

Edie is a fave, Cherry Vanilla was coloring her hair (and Bowie's) with the 'fire engine red' called FIRE! in the early 70s, before anyone, and Wayne(now Jayne) County was a walking 'new wave' experiment before there was new wave,like Edie,both of them from the Warhol tapestry

Not easy to pick one male performer who is the greatest style icon of new wave but for females I think it's quite hard to look past Debbie Harry. I think all others are princesses and she's like the queen.

Well we're in the "General New Wave & 80's Discussions" board and everyone who uses this forum knows the line between the two are blurred.

Especially true when you consider some of the replies in this thread. Duran Duran, Boy George and Spandau Ballet?

I know you have a giant hard on for the brummie with the speech impediment but please get real. The thread is about STYLE not musical worth. Toyah was not the queen of new wave just because she had a memorable look. There are far more worthy Queens of New Wave. Hell even Kate Bush would outrank her. [:D]

Well, I am from and grew up in the UK. I was a little young, but I remember her being on Top of the Pops just as much as Blondie though. This is all irrelevant, because the topic isnt about who the "Queen of New Wave" was. You're making your own questions up or are too stupid to understand the original posting.
