Nile Rodgers has cancer

Postby thegoldenyear » Fri Jan 14, 2011 8:12 am

It's not off-topic to share a piece on Nile Rodgers here. His work with the likes of Bowie, Duran, Thompson Twins, Madonna, Bryan Ferry, Spoons et al marks him a major contributor to the music we love.

Nile is a regular, friendly, presence on Twitter. (He was great during the recording of Bryan Ferry's last record.) Last October he tweeted about mysterious muscle loss in his hand, which was unsettling. It turns out he has aggressive cancer.

sad..[:(]
Chic sound was so influential, in 80's pop, New Wave, R&B, and 90's House.

I Want Your Love is easily a top disco track for me, so is Spacer by Sheila B & Devotion, great dance music of the time [:D]

Agreed..
Although some here may not have cared for the pop and funk influences he may have imparted to the numerous 80's NW band projects he produced, there is no denying the success that came to those acts who sought it.
A gifted and talented musician/writer/producer nontheless, I wish him strength and healing in what will certainly be the most difficult challenge he has ever faced.
